Dr. Christine Haska

Dr. Haska joined the Naval Postgraduate School as Executive Director of Information Resources and CIO in 2001, having responsibility for a number of areas, including Information Technology, the Office of Institutional Research, Instructional Technology and Information Assurance. Dr. Haska earned her baccalaureate and master’s degrees from San Jose State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.
At NPS, she led the effort to develop a five-year strategic plan for Information Technology, she established the Office of Institutional Research and worked with colleagues at the Naval Academy and Naval War College to set up the Navy Higher Education IT Consortium. Dr. Haska oversees the Monterey Peninsula DoDNet, (a regional infrastructure linking five local Department of Defense organizations), the institution’s Internet2 membership and related activities, and has been active in publishing articles and presenting papers at professional association conferences.
For 10 years previously, she served as Vice President for Planning at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, overseeing Information Technology, University Communications (publications, web, media relations, television/radio, faculty/staff newspaper, university magazine), Institutional Research and Strategic Planning. She has served as president of a statewide professional association and advisory board member of a national market research firm. Dr. Haska oversaw Rutgers’ university-wide strategic plan, and was responsible for developing IT plans to support the larger university plan. She was principal investigator for a series of Technology Innovation Challenge Grants totaling over $8 million, oversaw the planning and implementation of a $100 million university networking project, and worked with state officials to receive a fiber donation permitting the development of a university high-speed network linking campuses using the state’s electronic toll infrastructure.
Prior to that time, Dr. Haska worked at Tulane University for eight years, serving as Research Analyst, Assistant Provost and then Deputy Provost, working in areas of Institutional Research, Strategic Planning and University Computing.
