The Faculty of the Information Sciences Department at the Naval Postgraduate School invites applications for tenure track, senior lecturer, and visiting faculty positions in the areas of Computer Networks and Telecommunications Systems, Information Warfare, Information Operations, C4I Systems, Collaborative Systems, Decision and Agent Technologies, Electronic Commerce and Acquisition, Information Architectures, Knowledge Management, and Web-based Information Systems. We are also interested in candidates with experience or interest in distance learning and Web-based course development.
Tenure track positions are at the assistant, associate or full professor level depending upon the qualifications of the successful applicant. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in information sciences/systems or a related field and possess a strong interest in graduate teaching and research in any of the above areas. Applicants nearing completion of a doctoral program with an excellent record of teaching or demonstrated research capability will be considered. Senior lecturer positions require a graduate degree in the areas mentioned above; military experience is also desirable. Salary is commensurate with experience. The start date is the Fall Quarter 2008 or earlier.
The Department supports M.S. degrees in Information Systems Technology, Information Systems and Operations, Systems Technology, and Systems Engineering, as well as the Ph.D. in Information Sciences. The Department develops and maintains laboratories in Networks, Global Information Grid, Decision Support Systems, Software Metrics, and Internet-to-Sea. The Department also operates a number of research centers that are supported by reimbursable sponsors. The Naval Postgraduate School provides extensive research opportunities with Department of Defense research labs and commands, national laboratories, and has collaborative research affiliations with internationally-recognized academic institutions as well as Silicon Valley firms and major defense contractors.
