Established in October 2007 by the Chief of Naval Personnel, the Human Resources Center of Excellence (HRCOE) serves as a focal point for the lifelong career learning for the Human Resources (HR) community. In support of this goal, the Center is responsible for the development and execution of programs that promote professional development for all active duty and reserve HR officers to include formal education opportunities for new and experienced HR officers, a robust mentoring program, and a resources and learning tools repository. Center activities and efforts to enrich the professional development and abilities of the HR Community will be aligned with the Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education mission to anticipate war fighting needs, identify associated personnel capabilities, and recruit, develop, manage and apply those capabilities in an agile and cost effective manner. Courses Four courses are offered currently by the HRCOE: 1. HR Introductory Course (5 days) 13-17 February 2012 and 4-8 June 2012 N1 is the community sponsor for the HR community and for the HRCOE. The HRCOE is in alignment with the NTF mission to anticipate war-fighting needs, identify associated personnel capabilities, and recruit, develop, manage and apply those capabilities in an agile and cost effective manner. Additional learning continuum courses and activities will be considered for future development and addition. Requirements for Entry The courses are designed for Navy Human Resources Officers, designators 1200, 1205 and 1207. Quotas are allocated by a mix of methods from date of entry into the community to random lottery process. Human Resources officers must download, fill out, and submit the registration form by 17 January 2012 for the February course. Easy to follow directions are on the form. If additional supporting documents are required, applicants will be notified. Course location: The Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. All classes are held at the Graduate School of Business & Public Policy. Resources As a resource for HR officers, an HR Reading List is posted on the HR Community web page. Senior HR officers around the Navy completed personal reviews on the relevance of each book to the HR community. Suggested readings and book reviews may be added by community members. N1 is the community sponsor for the HR community and for the HRCOE.
