The mission of the National Security Institute (NSI) is to combine the scholarship and expertise of selected top scientific institutions in service to national, homeland and global security while engaging the next generation of graduate students in vital defense and homeland security research and development, field experimentation, and interdisciplinary research opportunities.

Educational Goal of NSI
Provide graduates with advanced degrees who are ready to step into productive careers in support of Federal objectives in national defense and homeland security.

Research Goal of NSI
Leverage the exceptional personnel and outstanding facilities of national institutions, joining DoD-focused research and development for the national defense with federal/state/local-focused research and development for national security.
