The Naval Postgraduate School has been tasked by
the Defense Modeling and Simulation Coordination Office (M&S CO), along
with the Navy Modeling and Simulation Office (NMSO), to create a unique program
of lifelong learning in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) for acquisition/T&E
workforce personnel. Unlike existing
M&S educational opportunities, this program will focus on the users of the M&S, rather than the producers. Specifically, the program will enable program managers, systems
engineers and test and evaluation workforce personnel to appropriately apply
M&S in their efforts to enhance war fighting capabilities, while reducing lifecycle development time and costs.
((01 Nov 09) New GMU Courses Offering
George Mason University will offer a course, MSA 0300, titled "Modeling & Simulation Throughout the the Acquisition Life Cycle" from 16-20 November, 2009 for the Joint Program Executive Office. This is a contracted training course. Please contact Susan Stinson by telephone at (703) 993-4802, or via email at: sstinson@gmu.edu for further information about the course and how to arrange contract training for smaller, dedicated groups desiring this training course. The course will be taught by James Campbell.
((01 Nov 09) New Degree Program Offered at UAH
UA Huntsville’s new M&S degree program is planned to begin accepting students in the upcoming Spring 2010 semester. This program will be making use of the courses developed in the M&S Education project described here. These courses will be offered as regular university semester length courses.
1. “M&S Environments” (renamed “Introduction to M&S”) will be offered Spring 2010, and annually thereafter. It will be a required course as part of the degree program.
2. “M&S for T&E” (a combined version of the Introduction and Advanced courses) will also be offered Spring 2010, and annually thereafter, as an elective course.
3. “M&S Data Strategies” will be offered Spring 2011, and annually thereafter, as an elective course.
((15 Aug 08) Test Offering of New Courses
George Mason University will offer a test course titled "M&S in the Acquisition Life Cycle: Short Course One and Two." The course will be held from 06 - 10 October, 2008, at the Modeling and Simulation Coordination Office (M&SCO), located at 1901 N. Beauregard, Suite 500 Alexandria, VA, 22311.
Participants from all levels and areas of the Acquisition community are invited to attend, however space is limited for participation in this complimentary M&S course test offering. Interested participants can learn more by downloading the student registration form (pdf).
01 Aug 08) Test Offering of New Courses
Old Dominion University is proud to offer three test courses in conjunction with this project. The four day short courses will run as indicated below:
- 18-21 August - Best Practices in M&S
- 13-16 October* - M&S Requirements and Proposals, and Contracting for M&S
- 29 Sep - 02 October -Introduction to Engineering M&S Applications
(24 Apr 08) Test Offering of New Course
A portion of the material being developed for two of our M&S Education courses will be offered by the University of Central Florida (UCF) beginning May 12, 2008. The course, Simulation-based Life Cycle Engineering (EIN 6528) is being given in the Summer Quarter and enrollment is currently underway.
This single course represents a subset of the material being developed for two courses in development, M&S in the Acquisition Life Cycle, Parts 1 and 2. The course will be offered via distance learning over the internet, or in residence, if you are in the Orlando area. A preliminary syllabus is provided at the following link: Course Syllabus -preliminary (html)
