NPS MSEE Degree Program Outcomes

The “Program Outcomes” of the NPS MSEE program represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities that we expect our graduates to have at the time of completion of their MSEE program. These outcomes are expected to enable our graduates to achieve the “Program Objectives” that support enhancing the national security of the United States (or the students’ home countries).

MSEE Program Outcomes

  1. Breadth: Students will possess and be able to apply knowledge and principles at a graduate level in two or more of the following areas: electronics, controls, signal processing, communications, computers and electromagnetics.
  2. Depth: Students will possess and be able to apply knowledge and principles at a graduate level in one or more of the following areas of electrical and computer engineering: electronics and power systems, control systems, signal processing systems, communication systems, electromagnetic systems, signals intelligence systems, computer systems.
  3. Independent Investigation: Students will develop the ability to conduct and report the results of a technically challenging, defense-relevant independent investigation.
  4. BSEE Equivalency: Students will have BSEE degrees from ABET-accredited programs, or will have BSEE degree equivalency.

To check whether we are achieving the goals of these Outcomes, we are performing a program of assessment described here.
