Systems Analysis Certificate (SA) Program

Program Overview
Systems Analysis examines systems to better understand them. This understanding is then used to determine and choose between alternatives for system improvement and employment. Students learn and apply modeling, optimization, simulation, and decision making under risk and uncertainty. Systems Analysis provides key insights for the improved operation of existing complex defense systems.
The Certificate Program consists of four, fully-accredited courses delivered entirely online in a one-year period. The course content and projects will challenge the student academically and address current problems of interest to the Department of Defense. The courses are paced week-to-week by the instructors, but the students have great flexibility to do their coursework at times of their choosing during each week
Skills learned in this certificate program will sharpen your ability to rapidly analyze a situation and more easily make a difficult decision based on facts. This background will make you a better department head, a better staff officer, and ultimately, a better commander.

Master of Systems Analysis (363) and Systems Analysis Certificate (281)
The Naval Postgraduate School's Department of Operations Research is pleased to announce that it is currently accepting applications for its distance learning Master of Systems Analysis (MSA) degree (curriculum 363), and its distance learning Systems Analysis Certificate (curriculum 281) offered in partnership with the Chief of Naval Operations. Both the degree program and the certificate program begin the week of 30 September 2013. The programs are primarily targeted to Navy Unrestricted Line Officers (URL), and are also open to other uniformed officers, federal civilians, and defense contractor civilians when space is available. These programs are designed to prepare students to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to support key decisions in both operational and staff assignments.

Eligibility and Prerequisites
The following are eligible for this program:
- US Military Officers
- US Government Civilians (GS)
- Enlisted Personnel
- International Students**
**International Students: Ensure that you read and understand the eligibility requirements and application process.
Prerequisites:
- Baccalaureate Degree
- GPA of 2.2 or better (GPA waiver may be granted)
- Calculus with C or better (Calculus waiver unlikely)
- Calculus Review (pdf)
Tuition
$2000 per student/course.
