Remote Sensing Center

At the Naval Postgraduate School

"Remote sensing is a field of technology designed to enable people to look beyond the range of human vision.

Whether it is over the horizon, beyond our limited human range, or in a spectral range outside human perception . . . ."

The Remote Sensing Center at the Naval Postgraduate
School is a consortium of local schools and community
research entities dedicated to strengthening Remote
Sensing research and education.
BECAUSE THE WORLD IS WATCHING

Remote Sensing Center Strengths

NPS, and specifically the RSC, has the ability to handle classified data (up to TOP SECRET/Codeword) as well as having a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) fully equipped with comms, storage, and processing capabilities

The RSC has pre-established cooperative research with government, academia and industry in the remote sensing sector ranging from local to international partners

Highly experienced military officers, intelligence analysts and faculty are a critical part of NPS research staff.

Remote Sensing Center Mission The Remote Sensing Center at the Naval Postgraduate School was established to bring together a range of capabilities and expertise to address problems of military and intelligence import, as well as environmental and civil concerns.

Members of the Remote Sensing Center include faculty and researchers from the Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Meteorology and Oceanography are collaborating on the development of new remote sensing systems, as well as the use and exploitation of current systems in air and space.

The Remote Sensing Center is part of a larger activity in the Monterey Bay area that provides expertise in topical areas outside the technical disciplines available at NPS.
