Captain Huber, a native of Portland, Oregon, graduated in 1986 from the University of Notre Dame, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and International Relations. Commissioned through the NROTC program, he received his Wings of Gold in March 1988. As an aircraft carrier-based helicopter pilot, Captain Huber has completed multiple tours with the HS-5 Nightdippers and the HS-7 Dusty Dogs. He has also served as a Carrier Air Wing staff officer with both CVW-3 and CVW-7. He has completed deployments to the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea and Persian Gulf on board USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67), USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), and the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). While serving in CVW-3 he qualified as an Officer of the Deck Underway on board the USS Eisenhower. Between 2000-2003 Captain Huber was assigned to United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, where he served as an Air Branch Action Officer in the Operations Directorate (J3) and as Executive Assistant to the Director for Operations, Plans and Policy (J3/J5). While serving as HS-7’s Executive Officer from 2004-2005, he flew Air Reconnaissance and Naval Special Warfare missions over Iraq. In August and September of 2005 he participated in Hurricane Katrina relief operations, contributing to the squadron’s rescue and evacuation of over 500 hurricane victims. He served as HS-7’s Commanding Officer between September 2005 and December 2006, and again between May and September of 2007. Captain Huber graduated with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1992, earning a Master of Arts Degree in National Security Affairs (Middle East). He also earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in 2004. Captain Huber’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Air Medal (two awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards). | |
