9/18/01: Hosted Forum
"Strategic Implications of the Attack on America"
Faculty from the Department of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School held a widely attended school-wide forum to discuss the implications of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001. The panel, which included CCC members Peter Lavoy, Maria Rasmussen, James Russell, and Surinder Rana, discussed the evolution of terrorism, the nuances of asymmetric conflict, and the implications of a U.S. war on terrorism in countries of the Middle East and South Asia.
9/6 - 9/7/01: Hosted Workshop
"Security and WMD in the Gulf"
Several international experts on the Middle East convened to discuss a new CCC project that will seek to determine the various factors influencing the defensive and offensive military policies of states in and around the Persian Gulf with respect to weapons of mass destruction. The project will conduct a case-by-case analysis with results appearing in an academic publication.
