If you have already received a graduate degree and would like to have it evaluated for a subspecialty code please follow the procedures below.
Send to CIVINS, attn: Assistant Director, the following items:
- A copy of your transcript. Make sure that the degree conferred and the date conferred is on the transcript.
- Course descriptions for all courses on the transcript
- Cover letter stating that you are requesting your education be reviewed for a specific subspecialty code.
You can fax, email or "snail-mail" these items.
Upon receipt it can take up to one month before the review will be complete. When the review is complete you will be notified via email if you include an email address on your cover letter.
Your curriculum will be evaluated against a set of Educational Skill Requirements (ESR) for the subspecialty you hope to attain. If the two are comparable, you may have already earned a P-Code, meaning you have a Master's Degree meeting all the Navy's requirements for a "Proven" subspecialty. If your courses do not match you will receive information as to what additional course work is needed for you to earn a P-Code.
For more detailed information concerning Navy Relevant Subspecialty Codes, please refer to the Navy Subspecialty Management website.
