EDUCATIONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS (ESRS)
The officer must understand the fundamental concepts and be familiar with the basic functional areas of military law (advanced)/criminal law within the Department of the Navy (DON) and the Department of Defense (DOD) with respect to:
1. Criminal trial procedures and trial techniques
2. Post-conviction matters and procedures
3. Constitutional law
4. Legal philosophy
5. Legal ethics
The officer must be able to apply court-decisions and legislation in military/criminal law as they relate to existing and proposed DON/DOD programs and regulations.
