Opportunities for Giving & Service

NPS faculty, students and staff are known as volunteers throughout the Monterey Bay region.

California's Registry of Charitable Trusts records 582 non-profit associations on the Monterey Peninsula and 311 in Salinas. Literally hundreds of local opportunities for volunteer service and financial support exist for Naval Postgraduate School faculty, students, and staff, who individually volunteer an average of 49 hours per month and donate nearly $4,500 each year to charitable activities.

Volunteer opportunities exist within the Naval Postgraduate School as well. Last year the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation provided NPS with nearly $123,000 in additional support through private donations and funding. This year, the Foundation also procured a significant donation of funds and computer networking hardware from one of the NPS partner vendors. Contributions such as these continue to bolster the infrastructure of the NPS academic environment, while strengthening the foundation for the faculty and students to serve the Department of Defense through education and research.
